Hi!

Nice to hear from you.

For a while, I have to admit that it was a bit sad to me that there was no news from Rio, and no news from any churches in Brasil.

No good news, no bad news, either as well, which means I feel a bit without flavour, and as someone who isn't hot nor cold.

Thank God I have, in some things, grown up, so as to trust that, even when I cannot see, he's acting somehow "in favour of those who love him and who were called according to his purpose".

I'll pass things on, here, according to what I've been taught to do (by Matthew, 28...).

I'll also make my best so as to let the community of churches to know what is going on in Brasil, in Rio, to tell the truth, which is the length of my work, for the moment (and, hope I!, may this not to grow!..., but God will do what's best... For everyone.)

ABOUT RIO.

We've been having news of the fellows who are making their best effort so as to come to meet us.

I believe it is a good thing, and which your document confirms in my heart, because of the brothers' hearts, who wish to come to help us.

(I'm talking about Pedro, and some others from Florida, who have been thinking and so, I think, praying for us here, in the churches of [the] Brasilian cities.)

I also believe that God is, in his own way, doing the best thing to help all of us, for I think it is a good thing for the brothers to come because of their hearts, but it is good that, because of the hurricane, they have been delayed, it is good because of the hearts of many of the staff members here, who think that, by receiving them, they will be receiving the solutions of all their problems, which isn't true.

This whole situation even makes me remember the instance when one man says "we wished to go somewhere, but God didn't allow us to move on".

I think this is one of the reasons Pedro could not yet reach Rio again.

I also believe that, in time, and if God thinks this to be proper, according to his will, which, I think, is of allowing and even willing his people to meet, and be together, even in this world, how many times we manage to do so[, the brothers will manage to make the whole way and visit us].

I don't know much of Sampaulo's situation, Douglas. In Rio, we're between 200 and 300 faithful members. (We were 'bit more than 700 before March 2003; we never reached 800.) You can talk about Sampaulo with James (whose e-mail is above). I believe Geraldo Witteze (the woitze@&c) may add some true and faithful information too. He's a friend and a coworker.

And Samuel (numa_boa@&c, whose e-mail means "cool", "numa boa" = "cool") is in touch with you, [I] believe. He's inscripted in your course, and he will have the paper you passed me about Chicago soon enough (by monday, I believe... If I don't forget, if I forget, God will make his way to remember me). ( [If it is that Samuel doesn’t have it yet], [for I believe you must have passed the paper to him too], and we will probably talk about this tomorrow, if things go as usual.)

(James, Gera, the paper is also in Doug's site, if I forget you...)

This is it, for now.

Say hello to Vicky. Make plans to come to Rio again, but don't be hasty. We have alllll the time. And things are under control, here. (Not my control, but under control.)

As a friend, and as a younger brother, in age, and in Christ,

in His spirit I write,
Gustavo.

(Oh, glad I hand't forgotten!: I use another e-mail adress, the guga_r2d2[@yahoo.com.br]. I manage the mailing-list with it. And Star Wars is still a classic! Greetings.)
